Welcome

Waypoint’s bonus workflow is designed to be simple: say what happened in Slack, answer any missing follow-up questions, review the preview, then save the structured event. The team should not calculate payroll in Slack and should not edit the bonus spreadsheet directly.

Simple rule: operational event first → Waypoint asks what is missing → preview appears → manager/user saves it → record becomes available for review.

Daily Dispatcher / Offshore Workflow

Post events when they happen. Submit a closeout when your coverage window ends.

During the shift

  • Log every assist or rescue when it happens.
  • Log incidents or exceptions that may affect Clean Shift status.
  • Answer Waypoint follow-up questions in the thread.
  • Do not wait until end of day if the event is known now.

End of coverage window

  • Submit a closeout for your team/window.
  • Confirm no exceptions, already-logged exceptions, or manager review needed.
  • Managers review saved events before calculator/payroll use.
Example shift flow
@Waypoint log assist Carlos helped Abdul 24 stops India completed @Waypoint report incident Mike had DVIC issue needs manager review @Waypoint closeout India afternoon exceptions already logged

Saving, Cancelling, and Correcting

Waypoint does not save a structured event until the preview is complete and someone confirms it.

✅ Save

When the preview is correct, reply in the thread:

save submit confirm approve looks good

✏️ Correct a field

Use field: value in the thread, then save after the preview updates.

stops: 28 source: Manager status: Partial manager_review: Yes

🚫 Cancel

If the intake is wrong or accidental, cancel it before saving.

cancel cancel intake
Behind the scenes: raw Slack message is captured for context; completed structured events are append-only records until manager review approves/reconciles them for calculator use.
7

Privacy Rules — Important

Slack is for operational facts. Private payroll math stays out of the channel.

✅ Post this

  • Driver names
  • Route / assist details
  • Stop counts
  • Incident category
  • Clean Shift status: Yes / No / Pending Review / No Impact
  • Whether manager review is needed

🚫 Do not post this

  • Pay rates or hourly wage
  • Gross pay, net pay, deductions, paycheck info
  • ADP/payroll hours
  • Employee IDs
  • Exact payout estimates or “how much is owed”
  • Private payroll calculations
Correct: @Waypoint log assist Carlos helped Abdul 24 stops India completed
Not correct: Carlos is owed money for the assist
8

Manager Review

Managers use saved intake records to review exceptions and approve/reconcile what should feed the private calculator later.

Managers review

  • Saved assist / rescue records
  • Saved incident / exception records
  • Closeout confirmations
  • Pending or disputed clean-shift decisions
  • Anything marked Needs Manager Review

Current beta rule

Structured Slack intake is not payroll approval.
It creates reviewable operational records. Payroll/admin calculates final private numbers separately after manager review.

Common Questions

Do I need to open the spreadsheet?

No. Post in Slack, answer Waypoint’s follow-ups, and save the preview. Managers/admins handle spreadsheet/calculator reconciliation.

What if Waypoint misses something?

Reply in the thread using field: value, or cancel and repost the event more clearly.

Are saved intake records payroll final?

No. They are structured operational records for manager review. Final payroll calculations stay private.

Can I post “no exceptions”?

Yes. Use a closeout, for example: @Waypoint closeout India afternoon no exceptions.
